In math, we're starting Topic 7, Multiplying by Two Digit Numbers. The students did very well with multiplying by one digit numbers, so I think they will have very little trouble with this extension.
Mid-year diagnostic testing for Reading and Math will be conducted on Thursday and Friday of this week. The OLSAT Test will take place on Wednesday, January 16th and the Stanford Test will be given January 17th and January 22nd-25th. Testing will be in the mornings each day (except for on January 10th when it will be in the afternoon), so please try to schedule any appointments for the afternoon.
In science, we are learning about states of matter and physical and chemical changes. We'll be conducting some fun experiments, using the Scientific Method to learn about these topics. On Monday, January 28th, we will switch with Mrs. Sarver's class and focus again on Social Studies. Meteorologist Bill Kelley from Channel 6 will meet with us on Wednesday, January 30th, to teach us about weather!
In Language Arts, we will continue our work with Character Traits, identifying who characters are based on their actions, thoughts and feelings rather than their physical appearance. We will also do some narrative writing about our favorite seasons.
Special this week are:
Monday-Art, Tuesday-PE, Wednesday-Library, Thursday-Music and Friday-Art.
