In Reading this week, we are continuing to read aloud Dear Toni which we started last Friday. It's about a girl who is assigned to keep a journal for school. She reluctantly writes in the beginning, but by the end, she comes to really enjoy it. We may have some writers like that in our classes. :) Hopefully they will all love it by the end of the year just like Toni.
Writer's Workshop this week will be a time for us to finish our summer stories, learn about and practice the "knee to knee" and "side to side" methods of revising/editing, and do a quick write.
In Word Study, we will read the book, The Boy Who Loved Words and begin collecting unfamiliar words on our "Word Collectors". We will also begin studying plurals.
This Thursday night from 6:30 - 8:30, we have Curriculum Night at Wyandot. The first classroom session will be from 6:45-7:30 and the second session will be from 7:45-8:30. Mrs. Chapman and I will split each session so that you can see and hear from both of your child's teachers during one 45 minute session. My homeroom parents will come to our room (208) at the beginning of the session and Mrs. Chapman's homeroom parents will begin in her classroom (204). At 7:05 (for the first session) and 7:55 (for the second session), parents will move to the other classroom. If you cannot make it, we will send home any information we handed out that night. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
