We only have 10 days left of school. The time will fly by as we work to finish up various projects.
In Reading Workshop, we will read tall tales and discuss their elements. We are creating our own "board games" in reading, also. These are based on a book they've read individually in fourth grade. Part of the project is to write a summary of the book which as been our initial focus. Next, students listed characters and settings with details. They have also listed positive events and negative events in the story. They will use all of this information, including words they think are more challenging from the book, to create the different parts of their games. This will all be done in class.
In Writing Workshop, most students are finished with their newspaper. As students finish, they are beginning their board game project which includes a lot of writing.
In Word study, we will finish homophones and begin homographs.
