This week we are going to start March Madness - the book version. We'll be voting on our favorite reads of the year starting with 64 titles and voting until we reach our top pick. Should be a lot of fun and a great chance to share some of our favorite books and why we like them so much!
We will be focusing on cause and effect relationships in reading this week with short stories, our read aloud, The One and Only Ivan, and our individual books.
In Word Study we will focus on Suffixes like -able, -ible, -ful, -less, -ness, -er, -est, -th, -tion, -sion, and -ing. We will discover their meanings, share examples and play games.
In Writing, we will finish our Literary Essays on our chosen fiction book focusing on one theme. We're choosing three examples from the book that support the theme and writing about them using details. We'll type these and share them on our blogs toward the end of the week.
Mrs. Sarver and I decided to keep each other's classes for the next six weeks and then have our own homerooms for the last six weeks of the school year. Our homeroom will have Social Studies until about Apriil 19th. I will be working on landforms this week with Mrs. Sarver's class.
In Math, we are starting the second lesson of Topic 10 - Fractions. We are moving quickly, so please check with your child each night to see if they need extra home support. Thanks so much for your help!
Kleenexes - We need them. We are on our last box. It would be wonderful if everyone would send in another box. Thank you!
