Reading Homework: Reading logs are due each Monday
Writing Workshop: We will finish our realistic fiction narratives by the end of this week and publish them next week.
Writing homework: Students are to write 10 minutes in their Writer's Notebooks on the topic of their choice. These are due each Wednesday.
Word Study: Modal Auxilaries (must, can, and may) and Relative Adverbs (where, when, and why).
Examples of modal auxilaries : I must buy the shirt. I can buy the shirt. I may buy the shirt. We will learn the differences in meaning and when to use each one.
Examples of relative Adverbs:
We will fly to Orlando, where we will go to Disney.
I can't remember a time when I laughed so hard.
The reason why I love to read is because it allows me to enter another world.
Quiz on Thursday. These are much easier to understand than last week's relative pronouns.
Vocab 8 - Weekly vocabulary assignment due each Wednesday. Here is a copy of Vocab 8. One word is given by teacher and the other word is a "new to them" word that a student finds in a book they are reading . Students should use a dictionary and a thesaurus for this assignment.
